Yemen is still the worst humanitarian crisis globally. 80 per cent of the total population – of whom 12.4 million are children – are in need of humanitarian assistance due to armed conflict, economic collapse and a breakdown in national systems and services. Yemen is at risk of being brought to famine, due to these situations and at least 325,000 children are severely malnourished and 2 million children are moderately malnourished. The crises in Yemen are exacerbated with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This appeal describes the ongoing crises in Yemen, and the strategies used by UNICEF to respond to these.
