Food insecurity and acute malnutrition is two of the acute humanitarian crises Mauritania is facing. Furthermore access to health, nutrition, education and protection services are required from over 60, 000 refugees, out of which 36,000 are children. These challenges are exacerbated with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This appeal describes the ongoing difficulties in Mauritania, and the strategies used by UNICEF to respond to these.
