Several natural disasters, such as flooding in the north and prolonged drought in the south has deteriorated the socio-economic situation in Madagascar during 2020. The disease outbreaks such as dengue fever, malaria, measles and the COVID-19 pandemic have also contributed to the deterioration of the socio-economic situation. Limited access to social services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, exacerbates the vulnerability of children. This appeal describes the difficult situations in Madagascar, and the strategies used by UNICEF to respond to these.
