Extreme weather patterns in Eritrea can affect water resources, food production, hygiene, sanitation and health, as well as child and maternal nutrition. Restriction of movement due to the COVID-19 pandemic could result in challenges such as child malnutrition and disrupted food supply chains. The COVID-19 pandemic also affects school closures and there are limited remote learning opportunities available. This appeal describes the challenges faced in Eritrea, and the strategies used by UNICEF to respond to these.
