The child-led group Voice 16+ has been operating in Albania since 2000 with support from Save the Children and, during 2021 and 2022, members of this group researched and wrote a child-led complementary report to the CRC Committee focusing specifically on the rights of children to a healthy environment.

The case study describes why and how the child-led report was developed focusing on climate change and environment (CCE). It also sets out the steps taken to participate in the UNCRC pre-session and follow-up the recommendations that the CRC Committee adopted as a result of the review. This process is adaptable for use in different contexts and with other monitoring and review processes. The case study also explores how the UNCRC General Comment No. 26 can be used in reporting and how Voice 16+ prepared a child-led report and submitted it to the UN OHCHR in April 2024. The report is intended to serve as a source of information for the Universal Periodic Review of Albania.
