SCI carried out an HEA outcome analysis to measure current year production and price changes in the YE10 Western & Central Grain and Livestock Livelihood Zone; to analyse the impact of these changes on household food and income access; and to calculate needs for the 2024/25 current year. Needs were measured against HEA emergency thresholds and the minimum expenditure basket (MEB).

The analysis shows that between Sep’24-Aug’25, an estimated USD 234 million (YER 492 billion) is required to meet the needs of 3.9 million people (3,885,535) in the YE10 livelihood zone. This includes (i) USD 86.1 million (YER 181 billion) for 1.95 million people (35% of population) to cover survival food deficits; and (ii) USD 148.3 million (YER 311 billion) for an additional 2.66 million people (3.9 million people in total or70% of population) to cover livelihood protection deficits.
