The main objective of ‘Better to be Rich and Healthy: On family background and child health‘ is to research the degree to which children’s health is affected by the family’s economic and social status in Sweden. In addition, this report describes the links between family background and health appear in present-day Sweden as well as those from the beginning of the 1990s.
The report uncovers several findings that link health and economic status in Sweden. For example, children in economically depressed situations run a 131% higher risk of death during childhood. The report concludes with five areas that require further development in order to combat the mental and physical health problems arising from a lack of economic and social status.
