The priority statement on Healthy & Resilient Communities outlines Save the Children’s approach to building evidence and scaling our work on Child Rights Governance, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Climate & Health, Disease Outbreak and Pandemic Preparedness and Response, Anticipatory Action, and CASH Plus & Child Sensitive Social Protection.
For the last 20 years, Save the Children has mobilized efforts towards achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In doing so, we have worked closely with communities and a wide range of partners to ensure that children do not die from preventable causes. Primary health care is the cornerstone for universal health coverage and contributes towards greater equity.
Delivering essential health and nutrition interventions at community level is essential to achieve the goal of ending preventable deaths of newborns and children. In order for these communities to build resilience, we must consider the effect of compounding issues such as pandemic and disease outbreaks, mental health, child sensitive social protection, climate change and violations of child rights has on their wellbeing and long-term health. Building resilience will ensure a community’s continuous capacity to overcome and rebound from adversity.
