Save the Children has been supporting the Department of Social Welfare (DSW) of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in Liberia to develop alternative care guidelines as well as the capacity building plan for the DSW. The guidelines are intended to provide national guidance for child welfare practitioners in order to improve the quality of family-based alternative care in Liberia.
The work has involved Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Ministry of Gender and Development, Save the Children, World Learning, UNICEF, USAID, and several other relevant organizations.
One of the key successes is the ownership shown by the Government thanks to the participatory process.
