Global Strategies to Reduce Violence by 50% in 30 Years: Findings from the WHO and University of Cambridge Global Violence Reduction Conference 2014

In May 2014, the 67th World Health Assembly adopted a historic resolution entitled, “Strengthening the role of the health system in addressing violence, in particular against women and girls, and against children”. Following this resolution, the Global Violence Reduction conference met in September 2014 to review the recent policy progress and to define targets for the Global Violence Prevention Field. This report aims to contribute to the development of a global roadmap for reducing violence with a set of policy recommendations that have been discussed at the Global Violence Reduction conference.

The policy recommendations, of which there are six, aim to propel nations to achieve their commitment to reduce violence by 50% in 30 years. This report accompanies each policy recommendation with a number of findings and suggestions for implementation.
