The GPE ESPIG project demonstrated relevance, aligning with the MoESD’s program priorities in ECCD and basic education. The establishment of 182 ECCD centers surpassed the initial target of 100 and revised target of 150, significantly contributing in increasing the net enrollment rate to 38.7%. Beyond increased access, the project’s impact extended to improved hygiene and enhanced WASH facilities. Overall, 84% ECCD centers monitored achieved quality learning environment (QLE) meaning these centers achieved all four guiding principles of quality. The project showcased efficiency in decision-making by allowing the districts and the block to take ownership of the construction and renovations of ECCD centers in their locality. The government’s commitment to expanding ECCD infrastructure aligns with the project’s success and positions it as a key component of the 13th Five-Year Plan (FYP) to meet SDG target 4.2.
