School-related gender-based violence (SRGBV) affects millions of children, families, and communities across the globe. It can be defined as acts or threats of sexual, physical, or psychological violence that occurs in and around schools, perpetuated as a result of gender norms and stereotypes, and enforced by an unequal distribution of power.

This global guidance was commissioned by a wide range of partners committed to ending SRGBV, including the UN Girls’ Education Initiative and the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

This guidance is intended to be a one-stop resource on SRGBV, with diverse case studies, operational guidance, and recommended tools for those working to eliminate gender-based violence. It synthesizes programme knowledge based on existing global literature, promising practices, expert recommendations, and practitioner experiences.
