Significant progress has been made towards achieving gender equality in education. Despite this, there are still teachers who are not receiving training on how to be responsive to gender issues in the classroom. Furthermore, some countries still prohibit pregnant girls from attending school. Women and girls in humanitarian situations also continue to lose out on education due to negative and harmful norms.
This report brings together the various dimensions in the quest for gender equality in education by looking at inputs, outputs and outcomes. It also provides key insights on gender and education as well as recommendations for countries and donors on how they can make their work more effective.
