The Girls’ Education Technical Package provides guidance for Save the Children and partner staff involved in girls’ education programming and advocacy. It is helpful for any staff interested in delivering programs which have positive and transformative education outcomes for girls (i.e., either a focused girls’ education program or programs which include girls’ education objectives). It should be used to design, review and implement girls’ education proposals and projects. Save the Children’s Girls’ Education Technical Package comprises of three parts:

  • PART A: Girls’ Education Technical Package: Theory of Change
  • PART B: Girls’ Education Technical Package: Implementation Guide
  • PART C: Girls’ Education Technical Package: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Guidance and Toolkit (To be finalised in December 2022 and will be accessible to SC Staff only).

Part A: Theory of Change outlines Save the Children’s global theory of change for girls’ education and takes a deeper dive into the four pillars of change for Girls’ Education, the vision of girls’ empowerment and gender equality as well as the progress and challenges to girls’ education.

PART B: Implementation Guide provides the guidance, tools and supplementary resources you need to design and implement a girls’ education project. The implementation guide draws heavily on other Save the Children education common approaches, including Enabling Teachers and Safe Schools. This guide draws on a suite of internal and external tools that have originated from Save the Children’s experience implementing girls’ education programs in development and humanitarian contexts. In some instances, the tools have been sourced from partner organizations that have invested time and energy in creating appropriate tools for girls’ education programs. The tools contained within the implementation guide include:

  • Training and professional development guides for headteachers and teachers
  • Course/curriculum content for girls’ clubs and other community groups
  • Strategies and implementation guidance for specific issues such as GBV
  • Advocacy and campaign guidance

PART C: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Guidance and ToolkitThis is an internal document – when you navigate to the link you will need to sign in with your SC log-in (SSO) in order to access the resource.
