In Ivory Coast, 60 % of schools lack toilets. This problem is not only confined to Ivory Coast, but extends across many countries. This inconvenience especially affects girls’ academic performance, as they tend to stay at home during their menstruation when they have nowhere at school to clean up. Consequently, many girls also drop out of school following puberty.

There are 6000 students who attend the upper secondary school Lycée Moderne in Ivory Coast. There are no restrooms at the school. In six short films, female students recount their experiences in a series of interviews by Save the Children.
