Gender Equality and Youth Empowerment Framework Brief

At Save the Children, we believe that all children deserve equal rights to opportunities that will prepare them to work and thrive in the global economy as they transition to adulthood. This period of adolescence is a pivotal stage in human development when young people are gaining more independence and when gender gaps widen and gender norms about work and power solidify, leading to lifelong barriers for disadvantaged young people – especially adolescent girls and young women. This Framework for Gender Equality and Youth Economic Empowerment articulates Save the Children’s commitment to designing, implementing, and learning from programs that foster economic empowerment for young people.
