Gender, Climate and Security: Sustaining inclusive peace on the frontlines of climate change

Climate change is now impacting people all over the world. In many regions, severe droughts and rising temperatures are leading to food insecurity and loss of livelihoods. In fragile and conflict-affected contexts, limited governance, political instability and violence leave communities ill-equipped to prepare for and respond to the consequences of climate change. Evidence shows that the risks of climate change disproportionately affect women and girls, but this dynamic has received little attention at the international level. 

With examples from countries and regions all over the world, this report demonstrates how gender, climate and security are interlinked. It also highlights recommendations on how actors can take advantage of these linkages in order to prevent conflict and create lasting peace.
