Funding at the Sharp End: Investing in national NGO response capacity

International financing for national Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), who are often at the sharp end of humanitarian response, is unpredictable, volatile, difficult to access, insufficient and is not sufficiently enabling to support the strengthening and capacity development of national NGOs. This study discusses the problems concerning the funding of national NGOs. Furthermore, suggestions to improve and build upon the existing infrastructure to enable scaling up of financing for national NGOs are provided.
