Free and Safe to Protest: Policing Assemblies Involving Children

This paper explores child rights in the context of policing assemblies involving children, emphasizing their right to freedom of peaceful assembly. It draws from a comprehensive review of literature, international and regional standards, input from a diverse international advisory group, focus group discussions with children and young people in nine countries, and conversations with law enforcement experts from ten countries. The paper provides detailed recommendations in each section. Article 15 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) outlines the importance of children’s RFPA, highlighting its significance for personal development, political participation, and driving societal change.
