First Line of Protection: Community-based approaches to promote children’s rights in emergencies in Africa

This report is a synthesis of Save the Children Sweden’s work in emergencies in Africa, and it provides a useful overview of the community-based approach being used in emergencies to protect children and to promote their rights, both in theory and practice. It looks specifically at Save the Children’s work in Côte d’Ivoire, southern and northern Sudan and Ethiopia, and draws on some of the best practices from similar work carried out in Pakistan.
