Despite having the highest rates of child marriage worldwide, West Africa is severely underrepresented in qualitative studies about child marriage practices. Hence, few evidence-based solutions exist to address the persistent practice in the region. This report, undertaken by Plan International in West and Central Africa, aims to nuance some of the common assumptions in discussions about child marriage and contribute with a new approach in understanding the drivers of child marriage in that this of the world.
