This study, Psychosocial Consequences of Conflict for Children in the Central African Republic, focuses specifically on the psychological impact of conflict-related violence on school children in the Central African Republic. The first of its kind, this study strives to provide an evaluation of the real psychological needs of children through quantitative, randomized, multicentre and multifocal research. Research was conducted in Bangui and Ouaka; 18 schools and 2 Child Friendly Spaces participated.
The results reveal the psychological toll of protracted violence and conflict on children. These findings will hopefully lead to a greater understanding of the psychological impact of violence on children and by association their parents, leading to better programming and provision of resources through both humanitarian and development responses.
