Evaluating the Impact of the Safe Families Approach on Parents Caregivers Practices (Egypt, 2025)

This report evaluates the impact of the Safe Families Approach on parenting and caregiving practices in Al-Tabout and Qalbah villages in Mallawii District, Minya Governorate. Using a pre–post assessment with 28 participants (17 from Al-Tabout and 11 from Qalbah), the study measured changes across four domains: disciplinary practices, parent–child communication, rule-setting, and positive interaction. Results show a substantial reduction in physical and humiliating punishment, increased rejection of violent disciplinary methods, and improved use of positive communication and nonviolent parenting techniques. Qalbah demonstrated the most significant behavioral shifts, with post-test improvements reaching up to 74%, compared to 70% in Al-Tabout. The intervention reinforced positive existing practices in Al-Tabout and catalyzed more transformative changes in Qalbah. Overall, findings highlight the effectiveness of the Safe Families Approach in enhancing parental awareness, promoting child rights, and fostering safer, more supportive family environments.
