Ethiopia continues to face undernutrition despite progress in agricultural productivity. To address these challenges, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), with support from the Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture – Capacity Strengthening in Ethiopia project (NSA-CASE), introduced the Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture–Model Village (NSA-MV) approach in the Amhara and Oromia regions from 2022 to 2025. The model aimed to empower households and communities to improve nutrition through integrated interventions, while establishing model villages that serve as living laboratories to demonstrate and scale nutrition-sensitive agriculture (NSA) best practices.
The NSA-MV approach improved production diversity, dietary practices, and women’s decision-making. Sustaining and scaling these achievements require embedding the model in government systems, with continued multisectoral collaboration and capacity building.
