Enhancing child protection systems

The newest thematic policy of Terre des hommes (Tdh) is entitled “Enhancing child protection systems”. Many organisations, including Terre des hommes, have been working since 2000 onthe development and strengthening of child protection systems.The aim of such work is to ensure structurally the existence and the quality of the services needed to protect the rights and the well-being of all children on a given territory. The new thematic policy document describes such ongoing work by Tdh on child protection systems and provides guidance for new upcoming projects on this subject. The document, which stands alongside the other thematic policies (children in street situation, trafficking, juvenile justice, etc.) explains the reasons why it is important to work within a ‘system approach’ , and how it can be relevant to all Tdh delegations.
