Save the Children India
Save the Children’s new global report ’Ending newborn deaths, ensuring every baby survives’ shows that in 2012, 3 million babies died within the first 28 days of being born; two out of every five deaths among children. Causes of these deaths include premature birth, complications during birth and infections.
As the 2015 deadline for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) approaches, it is vital that the world acts to make sure more countries can get on-track to achieve MDG4 and reduce child mortality by two-thirds by 2015.
This briefing presents India’s share of the global burden and where India stands in achieving MDG4.
