Save the Children
Malnutrition prevents millions of Zambia’s children from reaching their potential. An estimated 40% of children under five are stunted in height and 15% are underweight. This is partially attributed to the unequal distribution of wealth in the nation; stunting is especially high amongst the poorest Zambian households. Children in the poorest households are more than twice as likely to be underweight as children from the wealthiest households.
As part of it’s Every Last Child campaign, Save the Children is undertaking targeted advocacy for the development of nutrition-sensitive social protection in Zambia. Learn more about the extent of malnutrition, and Save the Children’s work combat malnutrition in Zambia, within this brief.
