Despite impressive economic achievement and progress in alleviating poverty, Cambodians still struggle with food insecurity One out of three (32.4%) children under the age of five is chronically malnourished, and one in ten is severely malnourished. Factors contributing to this disparity have been assessed as (1) Poor nutritional outcomes for women and girls; (2) Lack of access to water and sanitation in rural areas; (3) Gender inequality; (4) Lack of male engagement in nutrition; (5) Women’s limited influence to affect decision-making.
Save the Children has led the nutrition project NOURISH aiming to improve the nutritional status of women and children and to reduce the proportion of children in Cambodia who are stunted. Read more about Save the Children’s response within the brief.
