Published jointly by the Global Initiative to End All Corporal Punishment of Children and Save the Children Sweden, “Ending legalised violence against children: Global report to December 2017” reviews progress towards prohibition of corporal punishment of children throughout the world in the context of follow up to the UN Secretary General’s Study on Violence against Children.
2017 marked a year with notable progress: Lithuania prohibited all corporal punishment of children in February. Amendments to the law in Montenegro and Aruba in 2016 were confirmed to have achieved prohibition. This means 53 states and 7 territories have now prohibited all corporal punishment.
