ILO, International Labour Organization

In 2011, the ILO’s International Labour Conference adopted Convention No. 189 and Recommendation No. 201 concerning decent work for domestic workers. The adoption of these instruments is a historic step towards ensuring that all domestic workers enjoy the same fair terms of employment and decent working conditions as other workers and are equally entitled to respect of their rights and dignity.

The seven chapters of this report examine child domestic work and hazardous work conditions from several angles. The first chapter begins by providing contextual information for understanding child domestic work. The following chapters go through relevant issues such as gender equality, insufficient data collection, hazardous conditions, etc. The report concludes with several actions for change.
