Save the Children has been implementing a Strengthening Community Health Systems to deliver Reproductive Maternal and Child Health (SCHS- RMCH) services. This was a follow-on project to the initial Essential Community Health Services (ECHS) implemented between April 2016 and March 2019. The SCHS
project started implementation in July 2019 and is phasing out in December 2021. The main aim of the project was to sustain the gains made under ECHS of increasing the utilization and improving the quality of Maternal Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) services in two targeted districts of Neno and Thyolo. The project mainly targets Women of Childbearing Age (WCBAs – 15 to 49 years) and Under 5 children (2 to 59 months) from Hard-to-Reach Areas (HTRAs) in Thyolo and Neno districts.
