In 2024, Save the Children conducted Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with 148 school-going children in the Bonthe district impacted by the climate crisis to understand its effects on their lives and rights and gather their perspectives on addressing these impacts. The FGDs revealed the profound and multifaceted impacts of the climate crisis on children in Sierra Leone, especially in the areas of education, food security, health, and economic hardship and on children most impacted by inequality and discrimination such as girls and children with disabilities.
