Our reproductive health in emergencies program strives to provide a full range of modern contraceptive methods so that women may access the contraception method that is best suited to their needs. Emergency contraception (EC) is a critical part to the contraceptive method mix as it can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex, unlike other contraceptive methods. This brief summarizes an effort in 2018 to understand how EC featured in our reproductive health programs in humanitarian settings including the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Pakistan, Rwanda, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.
