Effects of the Palestinian National Cash Transfer Programme on Children and Adolescents: A mixed methods analysis

This publication is a product of the project: The impact of cash transfers on the rights and well-being of children in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. It presents findings from a mixed methods study of the effects of the Palestinian National Cash Transfer Programme (PNCTP) on children and their families. Impact is explored across the four dimensions of children’s rights recognised in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child: survival, development, protection, and participation.

The PNCTP is the Palestinian government’s flagship social protection programme. Although it was not designed as a child-focused programme, the large family sizes in the oPt, especially among the poor, result in household expenses and consumption goods being prioritized.

The results of this study find that the PNCTP does not fully address children’s poverty or perform adequately in a child-sensitive manner.
