The Lady Health Worker (LHW) is a programme launched by the Government of Pakistan with the objective to extend health services to the community and household level. The programme involves the participation of community-based literate women trained as health workers who provide health education, family planning and curative care for childhood illnesses including pneumonia.
Despite 60% of the population being covered by the programme, research indicates that care-seeking for children with respiratory infection from LHWs is as low as 16%. In order to improve these figures, a community mobilization program was implemented in the Haripur district in Pakistan.
This document is a cross-sectional study with pre and post-intervention assessment for pneumonia care-seeking coverage.
