Education Under Attack in Nigeria

In April 2014, about 276 girls were abducted in their school in Northeast Nigeria. This stands a threat to other schools in the part of the nation. Subsequently, more schools were attacked, infrastructure were destroyed. Schools are supposed to be safe havens for children but have become targets of attacks. Many among us could not return to schools due to fear of being victims of the perpetrators’ false course and thus have our dreams of a bright future shattered. Gullible minds were diverted from pens and books to guns and destructions.

Attacks on education by Non-State Armed Groups (NSAG) has left a hindrance in the lives of many today, millions of children who grow up in conflict are caught up in the crossfires of war.
