Education on Hold: A generation of children in Latin America and the Caribbean are missing out on schooling because of COVID-19

In Latin America and the Caribbean there has been more than 11 million cases of coronavirus reported. 97 % of the students in Brazil have been deprived their normal schooling due to COVID-19. For the children who miss out on education, experience further damaging consequences in their future. The Latin American and Caribbean region has long been characterized by high levels of inequality. UNICEF data shows that the inequities in the availability of education has exacerbated due to COVID-19.
