Save the Children
The period from pregnancy to eight years sets the foundation for health, wellbeing, learning and productivity and offers a gateway to addressing inequity more efficiently than later in life. Early childhood care and development (ECCD) refers to the physical, cognitive, linguistic, and socio-emotional development during these early years. Save the Children’s vision is to scale holistic and transformative ECCD programs, where young children are respected, safe, nurtured, and co-create learning. Our approach consists of four pillars: (1) integration into and strengthening of an existing public, private or community service delivery platform, (2) community and family agency, (3) the provision of more intensive service for families at risk, and (4) structural and social sustainability.
Read this brief to learn more about Save the Children’s approach to ECCD.
