Disaster Risk Reduction through Schools: A Groundbreaking Project

This brief report outlines the activities of ActionAid’s five-year Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) through schools project, which engages children, teachers, parents, school management and local authorities in vulnerability analyses, DRR initiatives and educational activities in order to protect children and their communities. The project has facilitated the transformation of over 100 local schools into community hubs for implementing disaster prevention measures. The report provides an overview of country-level activities, obstacles to success, and progress achieved thus far.
