Developing Effective Mine/ERW Risk Education

This course is designed and organized by UNICEF, with the support of UNMAS, and in collaboration with the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) and other stakeholders. This course provides present and prospective Mine/Explosive Remnants of War Risk Education (MRE) programme managers with an in-depth review of effective behaviour change strategies and evidence-based approaches within and beyond the MRE field as well as an array of methods, tools and best practices for programme design, delivery, and M&E.

The course will focus on practical skills applicable to current issues such as random contamination, evaluation of MRE, and lessons from other sectors. The course is developed in accordance with the IMAS and will only teach theory where necessary to underpin the practical aspects.

Included in the following are: course presentations (PowerPoints and print presentations), handouts, daily agendas, resources, case studies, and more. 

This course is intended for MRE Managers, MRE Coordinators, MRE Officers or MRE Focal Points, Chief of Operations, and civilian personnel awaiting deployment in support of similar missions that have or are planning to establish an MRE com-ponent or are involved in MRE in a similar form.
