Save the Children has promoted community sensitization about the Safe Schools Declaration since its launch in 2015 through our Safe Schools programming. This year, the 4th international Safe Schools Declaration conference from 25-27 October will be hosted in Nigeria and online. In an effort to produce child-friendly materials to get children more engaged in such an important event and secure meaningful child participation, we have developed this storybook. The conference aims to take stock and review the progress in implementation of the Safe Schools Declaration (SSD) and the Guidelines for Protecting Schools and Universities from Military Use during Armed Conflict, as well as encouraging commitment and action in protecting education from attack.
