Climate change is one of the major challenges of the twenty-first century – and children from developing countries will be the most overwhelmingly affected. Climate change poses severe threats to child survival and wellbeing, food security and nutrition, as well as children’s access to education and protection. To fulfill children’s rights in a changing climate requires that governments integrate climate change into national child rights agendas and as a children’s rights organisation working with children and communities across the world, Save the Children is pushing for a binding international treaty to halt climate change before it’s too late, and is calling for the voices and experiences of children to be at the heart of the debate. Save the Children is also committed to working on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and supporting the participation of children to play a part in making themselves and their communities safer.
