Delivering for Children in the Face of Adversity Impact Report | Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe – First Half of 2025

In the first half of 2025, the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe (MENAEE) region faced some of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, with children disproportionately bearing the impact of conflict, displacement, and economic collapse. Save the Children operated in 16 countries, delivering life-saving assistance, advocating for children’s rights, and strengthening resilience despite shrinking resources and political support.

Highlights include large-scale humanitarian interventions in Gaza, where over $27.4 million in digital cash assistance reached 51,217 households amid catastrophic siege conditions; child-led advocacy at the UN Security Council by a Syrian youth; major education infrastructure and protection initiatives in Ukraine, Iraq, Jordan, and Türkiye; legal reforms banning corporal punishment in the North West Balkans; and expanded psychosocial support for refugee children in Egypt and Georgia. Across the region, over 201,000 people—including 97,000 children—were reached in Gaza alone during the reporting period.

The report also documents strategic advocacy at global forums, the planned closure of the Poland and Georgia country offices with a focus on integrity and care, and continued engagement with governments, donors, and multilateral actors. These efforts underscore the organization’s dual mandate: responding to immediate needs while defending the right to deliver aid and shaping a future where every child can survive, learn, and be protected.
