Millions of children, particularly in the Global South, lack access to quality education. This learning crisis is especially acute in Mozambique, where a critical challenge within their education system is teacher absenteeism.
As part of Save the Children’s Safe Back to School (SB2S) initiative, the Mozambique Country Office partnered with CUBIC to address this key challenge. The project researched and developed a behaviorally-informed theory of change to show how the “social-based approach” – through which communities engage in education – can be effective in reducing teacher absenteeism.
