CUBIC, The Center for Utilizing Behavioral Insights for Children
In 2023, CUBIC launched a project to improve the efficiency of internal systems and processes at the Asia Regional Office (ARO), using behavioral science to identify and eliminate inefficiencies, termed as “sludge”. The project aimed to create a more efficient and agile administrative system, reduce wasted staff time and money, and improve staff
satisfaction. Technical expertise was provided by Dr. Dilip Soman’s BEAR team (Behavioral Economics in Action at Rotman) at the University of Toronto. The CUBIC team identified four “sludgy” processes and developed behavioral solutions to address them, presenting the results to Save the Children senior management.
