Midday meals in schools are one of the main food-based safety nets in India, reaching close to 100 million children every day. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequential lockdown, schools have been closed across the country. Despite this, however, most states managed to continue the provision of midday meals for children.
This guidance aims to help schools in India prepare for re-opening with a focus on food safety, health, and hygiene.
