Churches' Network for Non-violence
An initiative of the Churches’ Network For Non-Violence (CNNV), the Coventry Charter for Children and Non-Violence pledges to work in cooperation with others to foster respect for children and to campaign for greater recognition of children’s rights. Endorsed in 2006 by a multi-faith group of religious leaders, the Coventry Charter for Children and Non-violence calls for the abolition of physical punishment and the promotion of positive discipline, addressing the recommendations in the United Nations Secretary General’s Global Study on Violence Against Children. This third edition of the Charter marks the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (2009).
