Corporal punishment in schools in South Asia: day of general discussion on violence against children, 28 september 2001

This paper deals with corporal punishment in schools. No attempt is made to cover all forms of violence in schools; nor are corporal punishment in homes or corporal punishment in the juvenile justice system included. The paper is submitted to the Committee on the Convention of the Rights of the Child to provide input for its forthcoming discussion on domestic violence and corporal punishment, scheduled for September 2001.
