Every day, children are bought, sold and transported away from their homes. The trafficking of human beings is a multibillion-dollar business that appears to be growing. This handbook addresses some of the key measures that parliamentarians can take to end child trafficking. It outlines specific steps — including laws, policies and advocacy efforts — which parliamentarians around the world are taking to make children safer from this scourge. The Handbook is divided into three main sections. Section 1 will describe the phenomenon of child trafficking. Section 2 will focus on the protective environment necessary to prevent and combat child trafficking. Section 3 summarises the various actions parliamentarians can take to combat child trafficking.
