Children’s Participation and Policy Change in South Asia. CHIP Report No. 6

The report seeks to support individuals and organisations working with orphans and other vulnerable children living in a world with HIV/AIDS. Drawing on five different case studies in South Asia, the report argues that children and young people’s views have had substantially more influence in local decision-making than at higher levels. Children and young people are more likely to be able to influence policy through sustained involvement in ‘institutionalised policy spaces’ (i.e. ongoing democratic and planning processes) than through the one-off events that many agencies have been inclined to support.
